Prezi is an online presentation tool that you just have to see to understand
http://prezi.com/explore/ I like the one on Great Jazz Bassists

A Prezi in unlike a PowerPoint in that it is not linear. It can go all kinds of directions. Students and teachers love it for presentations because of the flexibility and ability to zoom in and out.

You can learn how to create and navigate here http://prezi.com/learn/

When you are ready, jump right in! Create an account

Have Fun!

For this activity you will post the URL to your Prezi in the comments section below. Reflect on the following:
1. How easy was this tool to teach yourself?
2. How do you think students will like this tool?
3. Would you use this tool for your own classroom presentations?

  1. Here is the link to my prezi: http://prezi.com/zbctgz5tqe5h/cas-creativity-action-service/?auth_key=1e647a5749587a57f5923263e9573d644150998f. I created this to use at my presentation on May 8 with the incoming IB students and parents. It took some time to figure out what I was doing wrong at times, but once I figured out all of the tricks, it was EASY to use!!!

well, i think this is a neat site but it would take me a lot longer to really get comfortable with it. I think it really adds some life to presentations and is a lot better than the boring power point. I do some power points throughout the year and I think it would be great to convert those old ones into something with a little more zip. My only complaint and issue with this site was that it wouldnt let me upload any photo images at all from my computer. I tried to use photos and images that were licensed for use by Prezi and it would not let me upload them either. My practice prezi is not that impressive but i was able to play around with it and got the main idea about how it works. i think for students, again, it would be another nice alternative to the typical power points.

  5. Hmm I wonder why it wouldn't let you???? It makes me crazy this program but kids do will with it. I like how you can import your old powerpoints so you don't have to start over:)

  6. Here is my prezi - I will attach the link to my wikipage for the kids as an introduction to the initial expectations regarding technology tools in the classroom: we will be using the wiki, weebly, and turnitin.com. Here's the link:

Not the fanciest, but this gets the job done. This would be a great tool to use to imbed videos, etc. for flipped classroom applications!

It was more complicated than I anticipated. I had to watch the tutorials and even then I couldn't import any pictures. I googled it and found it was an issue with Prezi http://community.prezi.com/prezi/topics/upload_images-xmnw6. Apparently this has frustrated a lot of people.

I think most students will love this tool as it will allow them to be more creative and it is certainly more interactive.

I would use this tool for presentations but I would have to be a lot more comfortable with it and I would not leave adding pics to the last minute as there are sometimes issues with their website.

  8. It was very easy to teach myself the basics. I will definitely need more time to play with more of the bells and whistles. I think that this can jazz up my lessons, but it would also be a fun tool to have the students do summary presentations of the materials. It would force them to have an overview understanding of a topic so that they could put it all together.
